There are many ways you can help the hundreds of
dedicated rescuers in the greater Los Angeles area who are saving
thousands of lives, Here are some
suggestions.
This won't cost you
anything! Many companies and unions have a charity campaign every year.
Employees get a list of approved non-profit tax-exempt charities and
choose which one(s) they want to help through payroll deductions. AMRT
can get on these lists, but only if we know about them! If you work for
(or know of) a company or union with such an annual charity campaign, you
can help a lot just by sending us the campaign contact information (name,
phone, address, EMail) so we can apply to be on their list. Our goal is
to raise enough money to start an AMRT spay/neuter program, so we can help
make sure fewer pets wind up unwanted at the shelters. If you have
contact information for a company's or union's annual charity campaign,
please send it to us at:
LauraBeth@AMRT.net
. Thank you!
GROOMING - If you are a groomer, can you groom ONE
rescue dog a week for a reduced rate? So many dogs like the ones
above are in deplorable shape and are passed over by the public.
Their only flaw may be that they are dirty and matted. If you can, please email me -
carol@amrt.net
and include the city where you live, and I will give your name to
the rescue community and someone living near you will contact you.
FOSTERING - Most of these rescues depend on foster families
for the transitional time after the rescue up to the time of
placement. Can you foster? If you can, please email me -
carol@amrt.net
and include the city where you live, what you are willing to foster
(i.e., cat, small dog, large dog) and the length of time (short term,
long term for pregnant, nursing, or convalescing pets). Also
include your phone number. Please indicate any special skills you
might have (i.e., RN, Vet Tech, etc). I will forward your email to
the rescue community. A rescue in your community will contact you.
Web Support - As this web site expands it exceeds the ability
for one person to do it - especially if that person is employed as I am
full time. The support needed does not require extensive webmaster
ability. If you were thinking of acquiring this skill, this would
be a good place to get your foot in the door. Please email me - carol@amrt.net
if you are interested. There are now about 10
photographer/webmaster pairs creating pages, some on private sites and
some emailed to me for posting. There are about 50 shelters from
Bakersfield to San Diego. We need about 40 more photo/web
volunteer pairs.
