Just wanted to report that I adopted a beautiful 4 year old girl from the
nasty East Valley pound. I named her Penelope. She is listed as an
Australian Shepherd mix, & she certainly has the brains to be an Aussie,
but the vet thinks she has some Chow in her, too.....and I definitely see
some Akita in her exotic face (she looks like she is wearing eyeliner).
She came away with "kennel cough," but I have her on antibiotics & I think
she is slowly getting better (after sneezing lots of snot around my house
everywhere!).
She is so sweet & gentle. When I take her & my other dog, Toby (also a
pound rescue) out for a walk, & she hears a big dog bark, she whimpers....I
think that is a bad memory from the pound. :-(
The only time she barks is when I get home from work.
She never leaves my side. If I go to the bathroom, she is by my side. If
I go to the kitchen, she is by my side. She sleeps with me. She licks
me. She adores me. I can see the gratitude in her eyes.
I might eventually have to re-home her, for her good. She is super
intelligent, & I have a tiny backyard, live alone, & am gone long hours. I
think she deserves better than what I can offer her. But I am so glad I
saved her.....she is the sweetest dog in the world. The vet AND the
groomer commented on what a great dog she was. The groomer said a cat bit
her, & Penelope licked her hand all day, trying to make it better.
What a total sweetie....I took her over to my friend's house, & he
absolutely fell in love with her. She's a big girl....but a gentle giant.
Thanks!
