I just wanted to tell you that I think it is a
wonderful service that you provide in helping these
wonderful animals find homes. It is REALLY sad knowing that
more people aren't exposed to the inhumane situations
animals are placed in and that something CAN be done to
help prevent the over population of animals. So many
wonderful animals being needlessly destroyed. I wish that
there were a T.V. channel available that listed ALL
the adoptable animals nationwide so that people would be
able to choose an animal w/out going to a breeder. Many
people don't adopt because they believe these animals have
problems. An adult dog is a wonderful companion and all of
my dogs came from shelters. Having you list the animals for
us to see gives us a chance to find the "perfect match" in
time before they are destroyed. Hope that your web site
continues. Thank you. Sincerely;
Felicia |

Thank you for the service you provide....Though it
is very difficult to see all these beautiful dogs that need
homes. I adopted a German Shepard pup (1yr old) from North
Central last week that I saw on your web site. I wish could
take them all! Keep up the good work and thank you!

| Thanks to the lovely people taking pictures at the
shelters! I was able to rescue a little white, older terrier mix
from a local shelter. I am part of a small rescue group called "City
of Angels Dog Rescue." After seeing her picture on your site, I went
to the West Valley shelter to evaluate her and picked her up the
next day. Since our rescue was full I contacted the Lange Foundation
and they were willing to board her at their facility until she could
be placed. I listed her on our website on Petfinder.com, and two
days later she was adopted by a wonderful family in Torrance. The
new owner works for a vet, so all of her medical problems will be
well taken care of. Thanks to several wonderful people, this little
girl found a forever home. Thank you, everyone.

I want to thank you for your wonderful site. In July
I spotted a beautiful Collie at the Orange Co. Shelter. He
looked almost exactly like the Collie I had for 12 years
and dearly loved. This guy was in Lost and Found with tags,
but after more than a week it became clear his "owners" weren't
going to claim him.
Collie Rescue already had a hold
on him, so I contacted them and a day later brought him home as a
"Foster Dog". He was listed, accurately according to my vet, at 7
years old. I can't tell you what a wonderful dog this
is. Housetrained, great on a leash, well mannered and calm.
He does have a slight case of arthritis, which can be
helped with relatively inexpensive medication, but that
doesn't stop him from loving his walks or our visits to the dog
park. My vet suggested that the occasional limping caused
by the arthritis might be the reason the owners let him go.
I find it astonishing that people can be so cruel as to
desert their loving family member for such a stupid reason, but
their loss is my gain. I am so grateful to have found this
loving companion. I hope more people will consider an older
dog, they are wonderful. He will be loved and cared for here,
for the rest of his life. Again, thank you for
your site. I'm sure I wouldn't have found my boy without
it.
Sincerely,
Chley |

I wrote in Fri. night when I adopted your urgent
terrier mix, tricolor mom. I picked her up Mon. from the Carson
shelter and I couldn't be happier with her. Her name is Gypsy and
she is the sweetest and most loving dog I have ever owned. She is
so eager to please, but still VERY timid. I think she must have
been abused in what I now refer to as her past life. She is
adjusting well and loving being spoiled as my surrogate child. I
wanted to say thank you to you all for taking the time to try and
find these caring canine souls like Gypsy new homes and second
chances! If Gypsy had the chance to meet you she'd creep up
onto your lap and give you a kiss of thanks! --

Hello, We adopted Sid from the Santa Ana Shelter on
10-31-01. This picture is from the AMRT website. He is fitting in
nicely at our house. He is the most mellow cat I have seen! He lets
anyone pick him up! He is a real lover too. He will sit on your lap
as long as you let him. Oh and that black on his head...is not dirt.
He has a black streak!

| This is an E-mail that we received:
I am trying to find some assistance in rescuing a husky mix
female from South Central L.A. shelter. She is running out of time.
I put a hold on her but that ran out at 5:00 today, while I
desperately tried to find intermediary individual or organization. I
will pay costs. I live in Santa Barbara and have offered to either
sponsor her or foster her ( and hopefully adopt her or find her a
home) if I can find someone in the L.A. area who can be an
intermediary and bail her out. And hopefully providing her shelter
until I can come to get her, or get a rescue railroad can deliver
her.
Her number is A426945, cage 18. The supervisor is Pat. I
saw her on Petfinders on the internet with a photo by Zsuzsa
Blakely.
Please let me know, as of course this is a life or
death situation for her. Thank You for any angelic work you can
perform.
Pattie, our Castaic scout, was able to help:
Last week we got an email from a gal from Santa Barbara who
needed help getting a husky from the South Central LA shelter- she
had seen the picture somewhere else, and tried to get help from
breed rescues, etc., and couldn't get any help -- until she
contacted AMRT. Between 2 other shelter scouts and a helpful shelter
person, the dog managed to get to a boarding facility where I picked
her up on Saturday and drove her to Ventura to meet her new family.
This poor dog had been in the shelter over a month, kept long past
her date because she was so sweet. She was just great- came along
with us like she had known us forever, right into the truck, and had
her head out the back windows all the way to Ventura.
This
gal was so thrilled with the help she got- and it was so neat to be
able to help even one get to their forever home. I don't know who
the others were who helped- but thank you, and Angel thanks
you- Pattie- Castaic scout

My name is Spencer. I'm a 2-1/2 year-old Miniature
Schnauzer (bred for chasing small, furry things) and I've been
having a fine time since I went from the Pasadena Humane Society
and shelter to my new home in Fullerton on October 5.
My
mama, Kathy (she was bred for shopping), followed the AMRT link
to the shelter website, saw my photo and took me home the same
day. I have lots of energy so we go to the softball field to run
every morning and also for lots of long walks. I love all
the neighbors and their dogs that I've been meeting.
In
the house I am good as gold. I also like to ride in the car and
have been going everywhere: to the groomer, to the vet,
to Petsmart and even to church for the Blessing of Animals.
Tomorrow we start obedience class (although I think I've got
Kathy pretty well trained already).
Thank you,
AMRT!
Schnauzerly
yours,
Spencer

This is Dugan. I was called as a second hold
for this little boy by Castaic Shelter just before he was
to be put down. His picture was simply matted hair held up
for the camera. The shelter claimed he was sixteen years old
(don't think so) and he has one eye. Through fate or a
r-e-a-l stroke of luck I found someone to pull and foster
for a month before I could have him flown to Atlanta. I
would love to name the fosters to give them the credit they
are due but I'm not sure that's allowed. They are
my Camarillo Angels. I have no idea how I ended up on the
CA shelter's website nor do I know how we got along without
our sweet little Dugan. |

We just wanted to thank you so much for putting us
together with Molly, the adorable Australian
Shepherd/Collie Mix from the Carson Shelter who
was featured on your website as a pet of the week 10/13. My
husband and I had been looking for the right dog for weeks
and the minute we saw Molly's picture we had a good
feeling. We drove all the way out to Carson and instantly
fell in love with her sweet personality and gorgeous brown
eyes. We are thrilled and will recommend your site to
anyone we know looking to find a pet! Laurie and

Just wanted to drop a note to thank AMRT and the
wonderful folks at the Camarillo Shelter for helping me
find a wonderful dog named Valor. I found Valor's cutie
picture at the Camarillo Shelter via AMRT. I also would like
to mention that the staff at the Camarillo Shelter is by
far the friendliest group of shelter employees I have met.
I adopted Valor last month and we are tremendously enjoying him in
our home. He is losing his excess weight and I will send a
picture of him to AMRT once our goal is reached. Thanks again
AMRT and the wonderful folks at the Camarillo
Shelter.......God bless you and keep up the good work that
you do.

Taryn,
FYI brought the gal down to the Carson shelter and she adopted
the little Chihuahua, named Poppy. I made an appointment for him to
get his little eye fixed and be neutered tomorrow. He has already
had a bath and is home with his new family. The gal who adopted him
said she probably would not have ever looked at him on her own or
gone to a pound. Thank you and Evelyn for your input. I'm so glad
all the pieces fit together. Thank you both for your effort for the
animals. Its a great help to me to see pictures on the computer . I
have a dog care business and do some rescue and often have clients
or friends who call me when they are ready for a dog in their life.
I talk with them and try to find a dog that would be a good match..
so this input truly helps. Anyway, thank you and please pass on the
good news to Evelyn...Keep up the great work.

Sharon came to us looking for the shelters closest
to her so that she could adopt a pet. Thanks to the information from
everyone at AMRT, and the wonderful people at the shelters, she was
able to find the perfect animal for her.
I recently adopted a
2 month old male kitten from the Agoura shelter and he's a real
doll. I picked him up this past Tuesday, October 9. Thanks! Oh, and
I named him Harley because his purr is so loud and his markings are
that of a classic Harley Davison, black and white (white for the
chrome). Thanks again!

I just wanted to let you know what happened to the
wonderful lab mix I adopted as a result of your site.
Lulu
has been with us for over six months and has become a very outgoing
and loyal addition to our family.
I have attached her
"before" picture that I responded to on your web site as well as an
"after" shot once she came home. As you can see, she is all smiles!
I am happy to report that she is healthy and happy. And most of all,
we couldn't be more overjoyed to have Lulu to love!
Thank
you! Lulu's happy owner Anna.

On Friday August 5th I went down North East Animal
shelter to see a Yorkshire terrier that was in your web page for
adoption. According to his info he was 12years old. I didn't care
about his age. When I saw him, I felt in love with him & I
decided it to give him a home forever, no matter for how much
longer, but he was going to have a happy ending. First they told
me that he wasn't going to be able to get his vaccinations,
because he was too old and he wasn't going to be able to resist,
then they told me that he wasn't going to be able to get neuter
because of the age also, but I kept telling them that I
didn't care. So I filled all the paper work paid the fees, and
the suddenly the vet at the shelter said that he was going to get
his shots, microchip and neuter too, because he was totally
healthy, I got really happy. They explained me that I could pick
him up on Monday (tomorrow) from the vet's office. All Friday
night I pray to God to help him to go through it just fine.
Yesterday when I called to see how he was doing and to talk to
the vet to see if he was going to do surgery on him because I was
really worry about his age, the vet told me that he was going to
do it, and he told me "don't worry about his age, he is a healthy
five years old Yorkie and he is going to make it just fine".
I couldn't believe what he said, I double check with the vet and
he said that he was a five year old Yorkie and that the shelter
did a mistake on it. I remember that when I went to see him, they
had him in the observation room, because of his age & I think
they thought that nobody wouldn't adopt him, but I proved them
wrong & I never cared about his age, but of course now I know
that we are going to have more years to enjoy our selves, with my
husband, my other dog & two cats. With hope & love in our
hearts we can help other animals in need. Thanks AMRT for all
those pictures that you post because thanks to that I found my
other little baby. You really make a
difference! Sincerely, Marilyn

AMRT Staff-
I am pleased to tell you that I
adopted a adorable puppy a week ago that I found through your
page and through diligent searching at South Orange County
Shelters. His name is Bailey and he is a 3 month old Chihuahua
Mix. He is still adjusting to his new home but I love him and he
fits right in. Thank you for your help and your web site. You are
making a difference in pet's lives. Here is a picture of
Bailey... isn't he cute.

Hi, While I was filling in for the regular Harbor
Shelter AMRT.NET scout (Christine had gone on vacation) I saw a
Rottweiler in the recovery room who had been burned by acid down one
side of his head. Even though he had been badly abused he was a very
sweet and friendly dog and soon became a favorite of the staff. I
put a rescue hold on him but he was released two weeks before he was
suppose to be and we didn't have the room to take him. I sent out a
plea for help on the Rottie-Rescue site and within hours was
contacted by someone who was willing to adopt him. Wendy and Eric
came up from Orange County to meet him and adopted him the next day.
Here is a picture of "Ike" being adopted by his new family. I have
also included a photo of the burns on his head, his new mom says
they look much better and he's gained 10 lbs! Although his photo
never made it to the website, I only found him because I was there
to take photos for AMRT.NET, so he definitely qualifies as a Happy
Ending!

Dear Staff at AMRT.Net,
My wife and I
would like to thank you for your help in finding the puppy
we adopted at the Downey shelter. Your website was quite a help
by saving us a lot of travel time: but more importantly was
wonderful as research to find where the local shelters are. We
visited three shelters (Downey, Baldwin Hills, and South LA)
mostly because of your updated and recent postings of dogs at
those shelters. I will keep recommending your web site to
anyone interested in a new dog or cat.
Thank
You,

I wanted to let you that I rescued a
cute terrier/shepherd mix puppy (#A421993) today from the
South LA shelter. She was posted on your website. I will foster
her until I can find her a suitable home (I already have two dogs
and a toddler).
Thanks! And keep up the good
work!

When I was looking for a dog, one of your
supporters at the Long Beach SPCA
facility suggested I look at your
website, which I had never heard of. I am so glad
I did. Do not ever
think that the hard work you are doing goes unnoticed.
What
wonderful a thing you are doing by taking and posting pictures of
these pets
so that people like me can see them and get
them.
I am adopting a dog from the Carson shelter tomorrow,
and I would never have
seen him without your efforts.
Thank
you again.

| Hi Happy Endings,
Don't think that all your efforts are going unnoticed or even
worse, unused. I live in Mammoth Lacks and am an
independent rescuer. Recently I have directed a few friends to your
web site. It is a perfect place for those of us who are so
isolated. Three cats and six dogs is my most recent count from AMRT.
And that was just June and July!

Hello,
I just so happened to have seen your
website about three months ago while I was searching for a
perfect pet. I have adopted a wonderful puppy that I have
seen on your website from the Carson Shelter. His name is Kody and
he was part of a litter. I am so happy with my little
addition to my small family. Kody was about 8 weeks and
about 8 pounds when I got him. He is so vibrant and happy
and is now a healthy 4 month old, 18 pound Shep/Lab mix!
I am
now in the process of searching for a playmate for him through
your website. Thank you for your kindness and much needed
attention to
sheltered pets!!!
Sincerely,
Syreeta

 I wanted to
let all the volunteers at AMRT know what a wonderful thing they are
doing--not only for the dogs that seem so grateful but for the
people who are able to find them. I had been looking for a dog for a
couple months. I found AMRT through a link at the pugdogrescue.com
website. A UCLA student, I did not have the means to travel to the
many shelters throughout Southern California on a regular basis. I
was found many dogs I would have loved to adopt--even a pug all the
way in the Riverside shelter, but after calling in, all of them had
already been adopted. After looking at AMRT, and visiting four or
five shelters, I stumbled on an 8 month female rat terrier at the
East Valley shelter that really intrigued me. I had gone to East
Valley in particular because AMRT showed a lot of Chihuahuas and
smaller dogs there. She had not been on the web site when I first
saw her and not yet available. I hadn't even been thinking of this
kind of dog or knew about the breed. I went back on the internet to
research about rat terriers. She was perfect. When she became
available, I played with her outside of her cage and she was just so
sweet, curious and friendly. Her description on AMRT of her being
full of energy is gradually revealing itself. She came home with a
slight case of kennel cough (nothing care and low cost antibiotics
couldn't fix) and a few ticks (nothing spray and tweezers didn't
remove, and she was just so sweet while she let me take them off,
licking my hand trying to get me to stop but still letting me to do
so) but those things are a small price to pay for her love and
companionship, and to see her happy. If AMRT had not led me to East
Valley shelter in the first place to look at the other dogs,
encouraged me to be a responsible dog adopter, and be open to all
the many dogs that need and give so much love and care, I would not
have found Tug. Attached is the picture from AMRT that encouraged me
to rescue her. I'll try to send another picture of her happy in her
new home. Thank you. -Michele

My best pal, Lulu, was pet of the week on AMRT the
week of September 13, 2000. My friend, Alexandria Sage (an animal
rescuer) brought Lulu's photo to me and I was instantly in love.
So, the two of us rushed to the shelter to spring my new
companion the very next morning. Lulu was at the shelter and
scheduled to be euthanized the day I adopted her. She
was underweight and had a terrible case of mange, but what a
sweet, wonderful girl she has turned out to be. She's a happy
healthy dog now and I couldn't be any happier with her! I've been
meaning to send along her photo and a big thank you for many,
many months. So here is Lulu - the Akita Husky mix from South
Central that you featured on your site nearly a year ago,
with her new companion, Mr. Fuzzy, relaxing at home. Thank you
very much for your great site! Karen |

I wanted you to know that our family adopted one of
the dogs we saw on your site. He is the German Shepherd at the
West Valley Animal Shelter that you had listed as "Calm,
affectionate, great dog!!".
We visited him today and he was
just as your site said, very calm and loving, and great with our
two year old. My wife even brought some treats to see how he took
food (very well!), and he knew to sit on command. I'm sure he
will make a great addition to our family. Thank you for the
wonderful service you
provide! |

I just wanted you to know that we adopted this
beautiful SWEET girl on Friday, August 10th. We had been
looking for weeks for just the right match, through rescues
and at all the shelters on the internet. Your site
is great! I even referred So Cal Aussie Rescue to your site
when I found the Lancaster Mom and 4 pups. They put her on
their site immediately and when I called the Lancaster
shelter a few days later they said ALL had been
adopted. That felt so good in a sad, sad world for these
poor animals. I wish I could help them all...
I also wanted you to know that the volunteers Cassie
(dog runner) and Kathleen (groomer) were great. When we
first arrived at the shelter they were grooming "Sunny" for
going to Petco on Saturday. She was so matted and dirty
they had to shave her back- it was love at first sight and Sunny let
me groom her! I then took her outside for a walk and
discovered she would sit, stay, come and heel to the left!
All this in addition to being such a sweet, gentle girl. We
also appreciated the shelter workers' efforts to let us
take her that very day, even though there was a question
about her being spayed (which she was).
We brought
her to her new home in Northern California and she was very shy
at first, but is settling in nicely and has been good as
gold from the start, no barking, fence jumping, digging or
crying at night. She has a big beautiful fenced backyard
(with dog door to our kitchen) and a soft fluffy bed
here. She is the only pet and spends at least 8 hrs a day
with us. I am looking forward to a long and happy life with
her and just wanted you to know she has found her forever
home thanks to your group and other dedicated
loving people! Keep up the good work!
